MODEL T FORD ROUND UP 2022

Our theme for the 20T2 Rally in Dubbo in September 2022 is to “ROUND UP” the dormant Model Ts and to motivate the completion of Model Ts under restoration to join us in the enjoyment of driving and displaying our Model Ts
We are aware there are a number of Model Ts that have been passed down in families that are currently not being campaigned and we want to identify the current custodians and encourage them to consider campaigning the car so they could partake in the fun of entering a national rally.
To encourage owners of these cars we will consider a single entry with the Model T and stand in driver or mechanic and a tag along modern car ie one Car and driver fee and multiple passengers some in the tagalong vehicle just give us the detail of the rehabilitation project so we can apply this discount.
It is certainly time that we think outside the square to make it practical to have these cars enter the rally and for participants to learn the enjoyment of all the standing around talking about our cars that a rally provides. There is a great sense of camaraderie on being an entrant in a national rally.
Wherever practical we will arrange for a current club member (or members) to offer technical advice and assistance in how to maintain the car, advice on how drive the car and were practical driving lessons and how to arrange historic registration.
There are cars that have been purchased by intending vintage car owners who have found developing the special skill set to enable driving a Model T with confidence on a public road has been more difficult than envisaged and again we hope to arrange advice and where possible driving lessons so the car can be campaigned with confidence on public roads.
And then there is the restoration projects, those cars that are just a collection of bits (valuable components) or have progressed to a partially completed car and need some encouragement or maybe a project that is partial complete that could be taken over by an experienced Model T restorer.
And we wish to encourage those owners that possess 2 or Model Ts to consider having a family member or a good friend to enter their second car.
If you know of such potential entrants, please help by contacting the owners and explain what our Round Up is about and the fun of joining a Model T Rally. If they would like to receive information that would assist getting them across the starting line, please advise us and we will send them information by email.
We will be seeking to follow some of the restoration and rehabilitation stories or get progressive stories in our newsletter and our Facebook page. Whether from a bones up total restoration or the rehabilitation of a Model T that has been laid up for a number of years, we want to share the experience with other enthusiasts.
There are 3 prizes for the best story (judged by the prize provider) that entertains the readers. The competition will be known as the Shannon’s Best Model T Restoration Story. The prizes are vouchers for $150, $100 and $50 to spend on Shannon’s insurance products. The prizes are not exchangeable for cash and if the prize winner is not eligible to purchase Shannon’s products Shannon’s may at their discretion allow the prize to be passed on to a second party that qualifies for the purchase of Shannon’s insurance products including Laid Up Insurance which is a very economical way of protecting the investment in a restoration project or an unregistered car that is not currently being campaigned.
We will further offer to entrants of cars that are a restoration project and who pay the expression of interest fee to pay for a full entry dated at the time of the expression of interest payment from the staged entry fee schedule.
Encouraging owners of dormant Model Ts to become motivated to enter the rally has the potential to increase the membership of our vintage car clubs.
